Common Peptide Questions Answered

Do peptides need to be refrigerated?

It depends on the form. Lyophilized (powder) peptides are stable at room temperature for weeks but should be stored in the refrigerator (2-8°C) for months or the freezer (-20°C) for years.

Once reconstituted (mixed with bacteriostatic water), peptides must be refrigerated at all times and used within 3-4 weeks. Never freeze a reconstituted peptide — ice crystal formation damages the peptide structure. See our full storage guide for detailed temperature guidelines.

Can I mix two peptides in the same syringe?

In most cases, yes. Peptides that are commonly mixed in the same syringe include CJC-1295 + Ipamorelin, and BPC-157 + GHK-Cu. Drawing from two vials into one syringe reduces the number of injections.

However, do not pre-mix peptides in the same vial during reconstitution. Reconstitute each peptide separately in its own vial, then draw the required amount from each vial into a single syringe just before injection. This preserves stability and allows you to adjust doses independently.

When is the best time to inject peptides?

It depends on the peptide. Growth hormone peptides (CJC-1295, Ipamorelin, Sermorelin): best taken on an empty stomach, with the most important dose 30 minutes before bed to coincide with natural GH secretion. Avoid injecting within 30 minutes of eating — insulin blunts GH release.

BPC-157: Twice daily, morning and evening. Can be taken with or without food. For localized injuries, inject as close to the injury as possible.

TB-500: Twice weekly during loading, once weekly during maintenance. Timing of day does not matter significantly since it distributes systemically.

DSIP: 30 minutes before bed.

Melatonin: 30-60 minutes before desired sleep time.

How long until I see results?

This varies dramatically by peptide type:

GLP-1 agonists (Semaglutide, Tirzepatide): Appetite reduction within the first week. Measurable weight loss within 2-4 weeks.

GH peptides (CJC-1295 + Ipamorelin): Improved sleep within 1-2 weeks. Body composition changes over 4-12 weeks. Full effects develop over 3-6 months.

Healing peptides (BPC-157, TB-500): Some people report reduced pain within days. Meaningful tissue repair over 2-6 weeks depending on injury severity.

Anti-aging peptides (Epithalon, GHK-Cu): Skin improvements with GHK-Cu in 4-8 weeks. Epithalon effects are cellular and not easily felt.

Cognitive peptides (Semax, Selank): Often noticeable within days to a week. Selank's anxiolytic effects can be felt within hours.

Are peptides legal?

The legality of peptides depends on the specific compound and your jurisdiction:

FDA-approved peptides (Semaglutide, Tirzepatide, Tesamorelin, PT-141/bremelanotide): Legal with a prescription. Illegal to purchase without one.

Research peptides (BPC-157, TB-500, CJC-1295, Ipamorelin, etc.): Legal to purchase "for research purposes" in many countries including the United States. Not approved for human use. The legal grey area exists because they are sold as research chemicals, not consumer products.

Banned in sport: Many peptides are prohibited by WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) and athletic organizations, including all GH secretagogues, GLP-1 agonists, and TB-500. Athletes subject to drug testing should avoid all peptides unless prescribed and declared.

What is bacteriostatic water and why is it important?

Bacteriostatic water is sterile water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol added as a preservative. The benzyl alcohol inhibits bacterial growth, which is critical when you are repeatedly inserting a needle into a vial over days or weeks.

Never use regular sterile water or saline for multi-dose reconstitution. Without the bacteriostatic preservative, bacteria can grow in the vial between uses, creating a serious infection risk. If you only have sterile water, the entire vial must be used in a single session.

Bacteriostatic water vials should be discarded 28 days after first puncture, regardless of how much remains.

Can I take peptides orally instead of injecting?

Most peptides cannot be taken orally because digestive enzymes (proteases) break them down before they can be absorbed. However, there are exceptions:

BPC-157 is stable in gastric acid (it is derived from a stomach protein) and can be taken orally for gut-related conditions. Oral bioavailability is lower than injection, so doses are typically higher.

Semaglutide is available as Rybelsus (oral tablet) — it uses a special absorption enhancer (SNAC) to survive the stomach and enter the bloodstream.

MK-677 is orally active by design — it is a non-peptide small molecule.

Melatonin, NMN, NR, and L-Carnitine are all orally bioavailable.

For most injectable peptides, oral administration will simply result in digestion with no effect.

Related Peptides

Bacteriostatic Water

Sterile water with preservative (0.9% benzyl alcohol) that prevents bacteria from growing. The standard liquid used to dissolve freeze-dried peptides. The preservative allows safe multi-dose use over multiple days. An essential supply for anyone using injectable peptides — not a therapeutic agent itself.

BPC-157

A healing compound made from a protein found in stomach fluid. It's the most studied peptide for tissue repair, with research showing it helps heal tendons, ligaments, muscles, the gut, and other organs. It's stable enough to survive stomach acid, so you can take it either by injection under the skin or by mouth.

Semaglutide

The most widely prescribed weight loss medication in the world, sold as Wegovy and Ozempic. Works by dramatically reducing appetite and food cravings — most people report feeling full much faster and losing interest in snacking. In clinical trials, patients lost an average of 15-17% of their body weight. Also available as a daily pill (Rybelsus). Originally developed for type 2 diabetes, it also helps control blood sugar levels.

Ipamorelin

Considered the safest and most beginner-friendly growth hormone peptide. It stimulates your body to release more growth hormone without the unwanted side effects (hunger spikes, stress hormone increases) that come with older GH peptides. This clean profile makes it the most commonly prescribed GH peptide in anti-aging clinics. Usually the recommended starting point for anyone new to peptide therapy, and often combined with CJC-1295 for stronger results.
